Hello Year 2!
We are really looking forward to seeing you all. We have lots of fun activities ready for your first week back.
Hopefully you are all looking forward to coming back into school and seeing all of your friends.

Spring 1
Happy New Year and welcome back Year 2. We have lots of exciting things to learn about this term. In Maths we will be working on multiplication and division, in English we will be writing a recount, our come and see topic is books and in science we will be learning all about materials.

We have had a fantastic week in Year 2. In English we wrote a safety leaflet for bonfire night. In Maths, we have been solving problems using our number bonds to 20 knowledge. We learned all about the 7 continents and 5 oceans in Geography. Well done Year 2 and have a fantastic weekend!

We have had a fantastic week in Year 2. In Maths we have been working on greater than and less than and using the symbols >, < and =.
In English we started our new story “Into the forest” by Anthony Browne. We had fun spotting some familiar characters and have started to retell the story in our own words.
Our Science topic has continued. We carried out a great investigation to find out the amount of fat in a packet of crisps. We also had a special treat today as we visited forest school and spotted signs of Autumn.

This week has been assessment week in Year 2. The children have all been super sensible and showcased lots of our learning in English and Maths. Well done Year 2!
We also started our new Baptism topic in come and see lessons. It was lovely to see so many pictures of the children at Baptism.
Our Science lessons have started and we are learning all about the topic of animals including humans. We found out about what animals need to survive. We also learned about the different food groups and how to eat a balanced diet to stay healthy.

This week we have read the story of the three little wolves and the big bad pig. We enjoyed retelling this story!
We continues our music lessons and listened and appraised some brlliant tracks.

We have had a wonderful week in year 2.
In English we retold the story of "The three Billy goats gruff", we enjoyed the part where the troll got pushed in the stream!

Our topic this week is music. We have listened to music and talked about how it makes us feel. Try listening to some music over the weekend and see if you can find a song that makes you happy :D

We have had a fantastic week this week! In Maths we have been adding and subtracting numbers within 20 and in English we have been writing a description of a monster. We have started our Jigsaw PSHE curriculum and talked about any worries we have and how we can overcome them.
This week we have also been learning Spanish. The children learned to say good morning, good afternoon and good evening in Spanish today. Why not have a try at home!
