Read Write Inc
In Reception the children are taught phonics through the 'Read Write Inc' programme by Ruth Miskin. More information can be found about this at https://www.ruthmiskin.com/en/find-out-more/parents/ where you can see video clips of the programme in action, or the RWI pages of the school website.
When children begin Reception they begin to learn 'speed sounds' starting with the sound 'm'. We will be showing you weekly how each sound is pronounced and the picture to help remember and write the sound. We will be learning Set 1 sounds in the following order.
Here is an example of 'blending' which the children will use read words. We practise touching and saying each sound and then reading the whole word as the finger is swept underneath.
We then use the magnetic letters to spell the word.
