St. Anne's has a long history of supporting Cafod - the Catholic Agency For Overseas Development. Within our Come and See lessons, the Universal Church topic in the Summer Term, is dedicated to exploring and understanding the work of Cafod and how this relates to Church teaching and Scripture.

We are very fortunate that the Cafod Liverpool team serving our Archdiocese have such wonderful volunteers who are regular visitors to school. They host assemblies and workshops to enable to children to gain a greater understanding of their work and how we can support this.

Please explore the photograph section for some recent photos of the visit Cafod made to explain the 'Share the journey' campaign they launched to highlight the plight of refugees.

Throughout the year, Cafod Club, with the support of Mrs Ward and Mrs Volynchook, organise fundraising events to raise vital funds for Cafod's work in this country and in the wider global community. For example, Harvest Brighten Up campaign, World Gift Christmas Card Swap and the Lent Family Fast day.

This year, as a school community, we will continue to work towards achieving the Cafod Live Simply award. This involves completing actions to show that we are living simply, sustainably and in solidarity with the world's poor.

Cafod Club will be heavily involved in helping us to work towards achieving this goal and more details will be sent home on a termly basis. In the meantime, please see the action plan and if you can help with any of the actions in any way then please do contact Mrs Volynchook at school.

Catholic Social Teaching

Catholic Social Teaching (CST) is rooted in Scripture, formed by the wisdom of Church leaders, and influenced by grassroots movements. It is our moral compass, guiding us on how to live out our faith in the world.
Our faith calls us to love God and to love our neighbours in every situation, especially our sisters and brothers living in poverty. Following in the footsteps of Christ, we hope to make present in our unjust and broken world, the justice, love and peace of God.

In January, all of our children from Nursery to Year 6 were involved in workshops with volunteers from Cafod to find out more about Catholic Social Teaching. This has helped us to develop our awareness, understanding and involvement in the care of our common home and our global neighbours.
