Lent and CAFOD
WHAT IS LENT?
Lent is a time of preparation for Easter.
The word 'Lent' comes from the word for Spring. It is the period of 40 days leading up to Easter. During Lent, Christians remember the time when Jesus went into the desert to fast and pray before beginning his ministry.
After the half term holiday we will be thinking about what we can do during the period of Lent. We will be using the CAFOD 'Give It Up!' resources for schools, to help us reflect on this important time.
Thursday 21st June
This week is refugee week and to mark this international week of reflection, we invited Moria from Cafod to come and talk with children from reception to year 6 about their latest project - “Share the journey”. The children learnt about the Holy Family being refugees and how we can help and support refugees in our local area as well as the power of prayer to help them.
Next week we will be sharing a journey around the field together as part of our sports day to join in Cafod’s Campaign to walk around the world. Their aim is for primary schools across the UK to walk the distance around the world - 24,900miles.
