Welcome to Music at St. Anne's
At St Anne’s Catholic Primary School we are committed to providing all children with learning opportunities to engage in Music.
Music is a unique way of communicating that can inspire and motivate children. It is a vehicle for personal expression and can also play an important part in helping children to feel part of a community. We want to provide opportunities for all children to create, play, perform and enjoy music, and to develop the skills to critically appreciate a wide variety of musical forms.
Our aims of music teaching are to enable children to:
know and understand how sounds are made and then organised into musical structures
know how music is made through a variety of instruments
know how music is composed and written down
know how music is influenced by the time, place and purpose for which it was written
develop the interrelated skills of performing, composing and appreciating music
Music should also be seen as a vehicle for the building of children’s self-esteem, confidence and self-discipline and the enhancement of life skills.
Harmonies is an the name of our school choir. We meet afterschool every Thursday 3:15pm - 4:15pm.
We will be performing at many events over the school year. Our first will be the Christmas Sing event at the St Helens Paris Church.
Photos from workshop can be seen through the Peace Proms - Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland facebook page... Here are the ones which feature our school.
We are pleased to be working with RockSteady Music School this year. They have set up several bands with children from Year 1 all the way to Year 6. They run weekly rehearsals on Thursday afternoons with children who sign up through their website https://www.rocksteadymusicschool.com/. Each term they hold a concert for parents and some children. Here are some pictures.
