Music

Welcome to Music at St. Anne's

Through playing, singing, creating and performing, children will develop their confidence, creative skills, SCORE values and improve their emotional well-being. We will offer wider opportunities which engage and inspire children to develop a life-long love of music. We will celebrate our uniqueness and allow children to express themselves through music and feel part of a community. We will explore different styles and tastes in music. We will promote a respectful appreciation of them all styles.

Our aims of music teaching are to enable children to:

  • know and understand how sounds are made and then organised into musical structures

  • know how music is made through a variety of instruments

  • know how music is composed and written down

  • know how music is influenced by the time, place and purpose for which it was written

  • develop the interrelated skills of performing, composing and appreciating music

Music should also be seen as a vehicle for the building of children’s self-esteem, confidence and self-discipline and the enhancement of life skills.

Music 2020

This year we have had a focus as a school on listening and appraising music, finding the pulse and showing simple notation to represent our body precussions. We have been working hard learning key vocabulary to help us to appraise our music too.

Music Over Previous Years

Peace Proms 2018

Photos from workshop from last year can be seen through the Peace Proms - Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland facebook page... Here are the ones which feature our school. Check back for photos from this year.  For more photos and updates about events,   check our Hamonies page below.

RockSteady Music

In previous years we have had RockSteady teaching additional Music. We are hoping we will be able to have this running again later in the year. They have set up several bands with children from Year 1 all the way to Year 6. They run weekly rehearsals on Thursday afternoons with children who sign up through their website https://www.rocksteadymusicschool.com/. Each term they hold a concert for parents and some classes.  For photos and updates about events,  check our RockSteady page below.

Productions

July 2019, we put on a KS2 production called 'X-Factory'. The children sang, danced and performed for parents over 2 nights. They were absolutely fantastic!
