Reception 2018 - 2019
Welcome to Reception!
Well done to all the children on completing their first morning in reception. Thankyou for making Mr Jameson feel so welcome. We went to the welcome assembly, looked around our new class, practised writing our name, had snack, went outside and then had dinner. I know children can often say they have not done anything in their school day but we really have!
Our Reception class are taught by Mr Jameson, Miss Pilak and Mrs Tatlock. In the afternnon they will also be taught by Miss Westhead and Mrs Furneyo.
Other information you may find useful
- We use the Read Write Inc programme which assists the children in learning the sounds that letters make to become fluent readers. The children should remember to use their knowledge of speed sounds when they are reading at home too. Every child has a specific reading day when their book will be changed. Please fill in the home/school diary to let us know how your child is reading at home. You may find that your child brings home a book they have already read this is to ensure they can read the book and explain it afterwards.
We look at high frequency words weekly and send these home every week for the children to practise reading and writing. They also practise recognising these words in class.
- We will cover different aspects of maths including number, shape, space and measure. The children will sometimes be asked to bring in items for our Maths Museum to encourage counting at home.
- We have PE every week on a Tuesday so please make sure that your child has their full PE kit in school at all times. It can be taken home to be washed at the end of every half term. Please make sure all clothes are labelled with your child’s name.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
It was lovely to see so many parents and grandparents at our Welcome Service today. We are sure you will agree that the children were amazing!
A huge thank you to our Year 6 Children, who supported us so well in our service!
The children looked brilliant today in their outfits. It was lovely to hear about 'who they want to be' when they grow up.
Pupil of the week: Mark
Writer of the week: Riley
This week we have had so much fun preparing for our visit from Rory the Tiger. Linked to the story 'The Tiger who came to tea', we wrote a letter inviting the tiger to come to visit us for tea. The children have really enjoyed writing invitations and cards, and making sandwiches for the tea party.
Pupil of the week: Leo M
We have been talking about our names and learning our full names. We thanked God for our special names.
